I have a St. Bernard. I think the best advice to any potential large breed owners is "Begin as you mean go on." Sure as puppies they look real cute cuddled up with you on the couch, but they're not going to stay that small! Same thing with jumping on people, not such a big deal when they're young, but is a big deal when they get to be over a 100 lbs! Lol, basically all the same principles of training apply to big dogs as small ones, just bear in mind that it's easier to start from the beginning than to back track and try to fix behavior problems.
As for health, large breed dogs to have extra issues...especially with their bones and joints. Talk to your vet about proper nutrition for your new big baby!
